I was a little disappointed that the predicted 2 feet of snow for West Va ended up only being about 6-8 inches the last few days.As the title suggest it was cold , it was windy and there was some pow to be ridden.
Determining layering this morning.
Squeaky packed powder on most of the slopes + some nice wind loaded powder pockets in select spots .Visibility was better than the whiteout conditions we were expecting. The peaks of sunshine were really welcomed!
Cold smoke , only wish it was a little deeper.Jeff feeling toasty in his down jacket.
A little white room sequence.
Coming inside was mandatory after about every 5th or 6th run to warm up but overall it was another great day on the snow .

We compromise two of the six people at the Canaan lodge right now. Awesome.
Going to get out early and poke around a bit- everything is really aspect dependent, some awesome wind loading on some slopes and grass on others. Even some weird windbuff around the lodge. Touring might be a total bust, but I'd like to get a feel for what kind of base we have right now.
Great pics as always brookbarrel, seems that I have passed the Snowshoe reporting torch

So will you try to climb to Baldy knob?, or is anything like that possible yet?
The lodging at canaan is really sweet isn't it -- basic, cheap, exceedingly clean (so much so I feel they should just make me sleep in the utility shed)
A bar, some pizza, and a good restaraunt
And a shuttle that runs to several hundred quasi vertical feet --Sarcasm aside -- that place is a gem

It *might* be sheltered enough at the bottom to hold some good snow. I'm going to climb up there and find out. There is enough snow in the grass to get some skinning grip, and with the wind/cold I might try to climb through the trees anyway. Brrr. Brrrrrrrr.
