Anxious to get one more day in on the snow before the Holiday crowds set in I headed on up to Wintergreen today for the first time of the season. For those who don't know Wintergreen has 3 different sections of terrain, two of which are serviced by 6 person high speed detachable lifts. Sunny skies and low-mid 20 degree temps. for first tracks and about 30 by afternoon

Headed straight over to the Highland's right at opening and got the first chair back up. Cord's.

There was some snowmaking in select areas but I didn't get glazed too bad .The high speed sixer allowed about 8-9 runs in about the first hour .There are some cool variations to mix it up and link different parts of the Highlands .My favorite of the day started with Upper Cliffhhanger....

to Devil's elbow .

The middle portion of the mountain is divided in sections (part beginner terrain + part park area) and serviced by another 6 person high speed detachable lift. The view from the lift of a few early season park features.

Help me out park riders.. Propane tanks?

The third section of Wintergreen is the Big Acorn area with a fixed 4 person quad.

The slope Big Acorn was the only slope in this area not open and it appears it won't be long until it opens.

Upper Sunrise to the left or Tequila + tyro to the right

A little dust was blowing over onto Upper Sunrise from the snowmaking on Big acorn to soften up the cords .Best turns of the day were here, especially at the top.

I'm not really sure if they actually blow snow into the Sunrise glades or not but there was enough coverage to ride the tree run.Overall it was another fun day on the snow!

haha i looked at the trailmap and they actually do have that marked as sunrise glades. They used to try and block off any and every entrance in there.

Also their park looks like it's come a long way in the last 10 years. You should have seen what they used to call a tabletop.

Good TR, hope to get up there for the holiday crapfest that is Wintergreen. At least the passholders won't be allowed up there to clog things up worse

Brook, are you sure the 6 pack express is a detachable lift? Last time we were there it loaded fast and then launched you at unloading.
