This being the first TR I've done bear with it.Took out to northwest New Mexico last week for a few days working and a couple days of fun.Hit up Purgatory both days and had hopped to make it to Wolf Creek but time didn't allow.

Purgatory had a good mix of groomed, steeps, bumps and trees with a few "Oh Shoot" moments to remind you where you are. About 70 percent of all runs, whether blue ,black or double B, will have at least two steeper bumps mixed in for good measure.Only had to boot back out of one area with tight double B bumps due to skis too long, too stiff ,bad knees and this old man is too old for that now. Tree runs were everywhere and Patrol didn't seem they cared where you go,only saw three Patrol in two days of skiing.Trees were tight but the snow was barely touched.Lift lines were nonexistent and slopes were almost bare at the upper areas. Durango was pretty much like any other Colorado small town ,and was located at the far southwest corner of Colorado. For those ,such as myself, who wish to partake of some liquid refreshment during recess, there are a couple of nice bar/pool room structures mid point. I liked the area, small enough to cover it all in less than two days but continued to be fun. Here are some pictures,TR's are not worthy without them, hope they come out ok.

In addition they did have a lot of park features with half pipe and quite a few rollers and kickers, sorry no pics of that but it was just below the mid bar.

nice TR. sweet pics. I usually opt for shorter skis in CO to handle the bumps and trees a little better.

some interesting drop offs mid run there, or is that coming over a cat track or something?

Those drops are everywhere and mixed in . Pretty steep but short so you can't get in too much trouble. There were a few skiers/boarders that were constantly hitting these areas.

runs were virtually empty.Except at the base I don't think I encountered five people on any run.granted it was mid week but from what locals told me it's that way pretty much all the time. Only saw two people in the trees all day. It was nice, like having your own ski area.
