My friend (Adam) and I had a "long" weekend in Fruita planned- Friday afternoon until Sunday morning- so we squeezed as much riding as we could into less than 48 hours. The weekend basically broke down like this:

Friday: 18 Road Trails followed by pizza and beers at Hot Tomato

Saturday: Rabbit Valley Trails (Kokopelli, Western Rim, East Rabbit Valley) followed by Mexican food and Margs

Sunday: Mary's Loop, Horsethief, Wrangler followed by getting in the car and driving home

Here are a handful of shots from the weekend... Fruita delivers once again!

Getting started on Zippity:

Looking down to what lies ahead:

3...2...1... dropping.

More Zippity goodness:

Day Two, starting out on Kokopelli near Castle Rocks:

Before Western Rim, near the junction with Brian's Trail:

This doesn't suck.

Western Rim, one of the most scenic trails I've ridden:

Smooth, fast, flowy singletrack defined:

Watch your step:

His wife is going to have a heart attack when she sees this shot:

It's not all downhill, sometimes you have to work for it. Yeah, this is steep:

The storm JUST missed us, but the views were inescapable:

Day Three, time for Mary's and Horsethief. This is the portage between the two:

Views here don't suck either. Oh yeah, the singletrack is fun too:

Charging through the singletrack:

Believe it or not, there are a handful more pictures I didn't include in this TR. Use this link to see more:

How far was the drive to the trails? I can't wait to get my hardtail 29er on some real singletrack in CO.

We're flying out to Denver later today to check out housing, fingers crossed. Kim has already been hired at a school, so it's housing and sightseeing, just too bad the weather is supposed to stink for the next 7 days.

Fruita is less than 4 hours from my door to the trailhead. The drive is beautiful, too- once you get west of Vail, the mountains and scenery are awesome.

Thanks Troy! We'll have an inflatable mattress with your name on it next winter.

Pfff, it takes us almost 4 hours to get to Beech Mtn here, 4 hours of beautiful landscape is nothing to us ;) I think we'll be spoiled by Colorado.

You really don't have to go all the way to CO for real single track. You have Pisgah right there in NC. However I do wish you two good luck out there.
