This year’s MS Ride was 3 fun filled days, beginning with setting up the team tent in the afternoon and then about 20 people from the St. Timothy's Episcopal Church SkiSE team joining for dinner Friday night at our one of our sponsors, Finnigan's Wake. We were the first to use the newly open section and were quite impressed.
Fun continued on Saturday with our team gathering for the team photos around 7:30 and then hopping on our bikes with almost 1700 people to begin riding. Our Team had riders who rode anywhere between 25-50 miles on Saturday and everyone rode 50 miles on Sunday. They weather was grey with occasional rain but the temperature was perfect for riding. Lunch was great, the bands were great, the beer was great and most of all the friendships we made were great. We all hung around for most of the afternoon on Saturday eating, drinking and having fun and getting our massages from Teresa.
On Sunday we did it all again, albeit a little slower. It was pretty windy but the sun did come out to make up for it.
There were numerous questions about the "Big SE" on the backs of our jerseys and met many people who were excited to go to our SkiSE website. A big thanks to Mike, who sponsored us again this year, and also to Finnigan's Wake, SoMe Social Media (Skiwyter's company) and my personal favorite Chappell Heating and Air (Bultaco's company) and also to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church who pulls all these folks together. Our team raised more than $7000 with more still to be added to the totals. One of my highlights was when several women with MS came and visited our tent to personally thank us for supporting them. The gratitude they had was worth all the challenges we faced.
