Our crew made the trip to western Colorado this weekend for a last-hurrah of sorts, before the snow starts flying and ski season is upon us. Friday meant Dan and I riding the Kokopelli-area trails, with a sweet circuit of Rustler (nice warmup after sitting in the car for five hours), Mary's, Horsethief, and Steve's Loop.
The views on Rustler aren't too shabby:
Yours truly on Horsethief:
Dan on Horsethief:
Almost to the end of the loop:
The section of Mary's after you pass the Wrangler cut-off is pretty damn fun:
Dan on Steve's Loop:
The next day, we got up (not so early) and headed to Moab for the Whole Enchilada shuttle. After a 45-min shuttle and an easy 10 minute climb from the Hazard County TH, we were ready to rip.
Adam and Aaron starting the descent with Canyonlands in the distance:
Adam on a fun section of UPS:
Aaron and I on the famous overlook. It might be the iconic shot, but still- it's a badass viewpoint.
More fun on LPS:
Porcupine Rim was more of the same:
Hmm.... look at the trail or the scenery? How about both:
Aaron ripping down Porcupine Rim with the Colorado River 1,000 feet below:
Yep, there's a trail in there somewhere.
One last view heading down into the Colorado River towards the end of the Porcupine Rim section.
All told TWE from Hazard County was ~22 miles with about 6k vertical drop. Not bad for an end of October ride and a helluva last weekend.
