Went up to App on Monday and Tuesday and overall had a good time. This was our first time out this season.
Sorry, no photos though... the wind, the blowers, and the cold, (and did I mention that WIND?) all got in the way of me getting the camera out.
First off: No complaints about the blowers. Expected it, prepared for it, dealt with it, and enjoyed the extra fresh stuff they put out.
The snow really was quite awesome. Fresh, fluffy, no icy spots at all. The people at App were very chill about everything and kept it all running smooth.
Being all bundled up made it hard to talk and hear, so I really felt bad for the instructors and people taking lessons. And there were huge groups Monday night.
I had intended on dialing in our (me and my wife's) new boards... but there was no dialing going on thanks to that wind. I think I guessed pretty good to begin with, plus the great snow made it so we could almost do no wrong anyway.
Props to the park crew who put up a couple small easy features in all that craziness. They kept the landings super smooth despite the gapers doing their darn best to tear them up (how do you fall on a ride-on flat box? It really can be done! Skiers doing 50-50's straight on a flat down?? Yup, and riding it like a horse at the end - ouch!). Also props to the dudes that adjust the guns. Good folks there. I appreciated the work they did & do.
Looking forward to the next day out and the parks being super fresh.
