It was fun. Raining at check in but we came to ski! After stowing our gear, we were ready to roll, rain or shine, but the gods had other plans. The lifts were stopped due to lightning! After waiting in the bar the lifts reopened about 3 and we rocked and rolled in the drizzle until closing and the moved down to Silver Creek until about 7. The snow was good, we were happy. Left before the storms came back around 8 but the lightning again was our nemesis, closing the hot tub!!:(

Break for lunch at Silver Creek
The adaptive program was having a big gathering at Silver Creek.
At 2 we took a break to tour the snow making facility. What a treat! David Huber and his coworker Mike gave us all the info you could ever dream about. It gives new insight into why the costs of skiing in the south is what it is.
Mike and David
Six 1250 hp compressors. When they turn them on, they suck the electricity down.
They have their own substation for that.
You may not think about the mixing of compressed air and water to make snow, but the air is 250 degrees out of the compressors so it must be cooled before it is mixed with the water. A series of condensors chills it to 38 degrees before being pumped up the mountain.
Everything is computer controlled.
We also saw some of the "older" equipment.
Groomers
Guns
And later we got to see the theory put into action.

I arrived a little after 1:00, checked in and got on the slopes around 2:15. I rode the lift with a guy who had a Ski Southeast sticker on top of his helmet. I mentioned it and he was clueless as to what it was or where it came from.
It has snowed all day and still coming down.
I skied at Silver Creek tonight for a while. The snow was great, especially the powder stashes along the edges of the runs. I went into Mistys for a beer and met Shoebunnie.
I'll try to post a few pics in the next couple of days. Tomorrow may be a nice powder day.

Amazed that people have stickers from SkiSE and are unaware of what they are -- I guess its a good thing as far as notoriety -- think Dallas Cowboy stickers
Anyway, were you at TL before the summit?
