So, its taken me a while to get this TR up because it will be pretty long, and I'm in the busy part of my semester. Anyways...

March 16, Friday, got up early for the 8am flight to SLC.

leaving atl

flew over a basin, loveland pass...

went over this sweet open pit mine

slc

Took the bus to alta, then the TRAX (light rail) to sandy, and then the bus up to alta. It cost me about $4.

I thought this was a cool building

alta on that friday. Skied for "free" after 3 on sunnyside and skied a few laps. Not really worth posting pics.

Saturday-went up to snowbird and skinned up to see the freeskiing comp. It was pretty sick.

It started to snow that afternoon and didnt stop till tuesday.

Sunday was good People waited in this line for over 4 hours. Collins never opened. Walker and I left after 30-40 minutes to wait in line for Sunnyside and get to Sugarloaf as it opened.

Sugarloaf was good for a few runs. Not many pics cause my camera was messed up. Then, supreme opened and I got there right on time to ski a bunch of fresh then. Skied bottomless pow right under the chair.

Skied over to spiny chutes

Then, I went back to sugarloaf right as the EBT and the high t opened so I got untracked turns down west rustler. It was sick.

Monday was even better. No pics because my camera wasn't working, but walker got some cool vids.

It was sick bottomless pow, got some good runs off Wildcat, Collins and the high t, and then some good runs off supreme.

Tuesday was when the sun came out and it was also good.

walker and I hit this fun little zone from near collins

supreme

there are a bunch of fun little things in here to ski

there was a fun little cliff band in catherines too.

Walker took me over to Rocky Point to show me that area and point out Brighton, but ridiculousness

ensued. (That stuff is posted on skiing rules' thread)

walker is scoping it out. Wish I had had a beacon, cause then I might have hit it. Had I had a beacon and known how good the photos that photographer took were gonna be, I def would have thrown

a 3 or something off it. Oh well...

to end the day, I took a nice run down high boy

Went to solitude on wednesday to meet up with some people from Tech that were also out here for spring break.

the sun pretty much killed a lot of snow on tuesday, so honeycomb canyon was pretty, but most of the snow wasnt that good. Snow was decent in the trees, but solitude was just really tracked out.

I found some good snow after doing some side stepping near the summit chair

I wanted to hit this but it was closed for avy conditions...

Spent the rest of the day goin super fast on grommers cause most fo the snow wasn't very good. Then spent the night at soli.

Thursday-my buddies decided to ski snowbird. I was in at first, then I heard baldy and the castle were open at alta and then I didnt feel like spending $70 to go to snowbird when I still had a bunch of alta lift vouchers left(Oh yeah, I only spent about $40 for each day I was at alta)

Did a bunch of sidestepping to Devils Castle

looking down, it looks pretty crappy, but I think I did more sidestepping after this, but there were still some good, fairly fresh turns further down.

lookin back up.

Then it was time to hit baldy

baldy is pretty awesome.

from collins on the way up

bootpack on the way up. It wasnt that bad at all. I didnt really know it was only 500 vertical

feet.

panorama from about 200 vertical feet up

the top was really nice. no wind. I should have brought more beer.

chillin at the top

lookin down main baldy chute

about 1/2-2/3 the way down

lookin back up

from the bottom

the snow in the chute was pretty good. Not icy but pretty skied out and it had pretty big moguls. It was fun though.

Friday was more firm conditions in the morning, softer stuff and slush at the bottom by 2pm.

Saturday was the same as that. Walker and I headed over to the batcave.

walker hitting it.

Finally, sunday, we toured up across from alta with the intention of hitting toledo chute, but we

had to get back down quicker beccause we didnt have any time. It was fun, but would have been better if it could have softened up a bit up top.

Then I spent a good amount of time in the airport. It was a great trip though. 10 days and fairly inexpensive. Thanks to walker for showing me around and everything else.

damn i love that place..

and that chute that was closed for avy conditions LOVE it. and has an 8 ft drop in just out of frame to the rt at top and is fun as hellll!!! unless u hit a avy bomb slab and watch your ski dissapear under it just after the rock in the center while superman ejecting and landing in your own crater 50 ft downslope. .....much to the enjoyment of the lift riders on the lift where your photo was taken.
