The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

As evidenced by a different thread in a different section, Talia put the call out on FB asking for volunteers to help clean up the MTB trails in order to prepare for the US Cycling Mountain Bike Gravity National Championship on July 21st -- and of course the Brews & Views Festival going on at the same time. For the benefit of a freebie liftie, and since I've been meaning to go up that way one weekend anyway, I said what the heck.

Met up with the crew in the parking lot -- started out with Chris Herndon and about 5 other riders. We ended the work day with about 11 or 12 working (all of them MTB'ers except me). I did manage to get ON the slopes today...but was in a truck instead. We drove up Lower Shawnee to the Crossway, hiked up a good 200+ft and worked our way down...clearing tree roots, smoothing out spots, building up berms, and eventually cutting down 2 small trees. Below Crossway is an area they called the Rock Garden that blew my mind. I cannot fathom what it would be like to ride this stuff!

I missed getting a good picture of it, but they had bike racks on the quad lift! Chris said they could have ordered racks for 2 bikes, but they worked with someone local and made lift racks for 4 bikes. Quicker haul up to the top!

Worked, sweated, played in the dirt, and joked around with some really nice peeps. Capped the afternoon off with some of them at Brick Oven Pizza.

I'm always the one behind the camera -- it's my phone anyway, and I'm all stealthy with taking the pics when most don't know I am.

When there's white stuff on the ground, I'll be all up in some pics. ;)
