With my wife gone in Albuquerque for a couple of weeks, I decided to take the dogs on a longer hike closer to home... so I chose my favorite area near Boulder, the Indian Peaks Wilderness. Only 45 minutes from our new house (!), I think this area is great for landscapes in all seasons. Today I did the Pawnee Pass hike with two of my friends, and of course my two main hiking partners (my labs). The trail climbs to Lake Isabelle and then above, ultimately ending at the pass where you can look down towards Winter Park and Lake Granby. We ended up hiking 11-12 miles and climbing almost 3,000 vertical, to be rewarded with amazing views with virtually each step. Not as many wildflowers this year with the lack of moisture, but we managed to find a few... on to the pictures.

I'm surprised to see a bit of snow in sheltered spots after the lack of snow last year. Great pics as always!
