So last weekend we made the trip down to Pikes (can see it from the house). Since we drove to the top, it cant be counted as doing a 14er.
An early morning hike on the ridge behind the house.
Soon after you pass the toll there are signs for wildlife everywhere.
Emily did NOT care for the ride up.
Castle Rock is out there somewhere...
Some EXTREEEME CLIMBING!
Even with her disdain for the drive, Emily wound up having a great time at the top.
OK, Some gratuitous mountain pics.
And some disheartening views as well. This is just one area of the burn from the Waldo Canyon fire.
The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.
We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

I went riding yesterday afternoon (had the day off) and when I was driving home at 4:00, my car thermometer read 62 degrees.
Where did you go? Today wasn't as bad as it's been. We set another all time record for July. 27 days above 90 degrees, 7 days above 100 degrees.
I'm ready for it to be winter. I'm also ready to live closer to the foothills.

I feel you on being run off by storms. I went up to Ridgeline Open Space behind our neighborhood yesterday. As soon as i crossed to the west side of the ridge a storm cloud rolled in. Turned tail back towards the house, got to the top of our street and got pelted by pea sized hail.

It was mid 40's with a strong breeze. Felt great!
