I have meant to get this out -- but am finishing a job to deliver tomorrow thanks to my play time -- whatever, worth it
Got to Snowshoe with my sons and two of their friends; arrived at two and they secured the area. I watched some sunset and storm clouds
We did make it for late session at silver creek -- hats off to them, they had a few good trails and for the boarder types some features. Considering the balmy conditions all around it was pretty amazing.
Next morning it was the same, but uncrowded at Ballhooter. And a picture with my boys
Then it got a little windy and started to snow.... features were hit
The day ended with epic winds, oh and one of our party separating his shoulder, a drive to ski patrol after they came in and I saw it. Really good people, well the head of patrol not so much --the injured party is 21, everyone knows its a seperation, but the chief keeps pushing that I should drive him to an ER in Marlinton when a huge storm is blowing in, I finally said that was not happening and he righteously pulled out paperwork to sign -- CYA I know, but come on
Here's a picture 2 hrs later -- as I waited for a shuttle to Silver creek because of multiple wrecks downhill, all ended well but painful and boring (though admirably stoic) the next two days for injured friend -- hey sooner or later we all are that guy and it was better then us hunting up oxy in the streets of Marlinton, snowed down at 2 am.
Friday morning things had changed, this is the bottom of the little trail up to Shamrock, around noon. I was starting to Hike up and met JOSH456?2 but we didn't see each other again to ski, I was sorry about that, I also had a lot of fun friday night meeting Dracan6 and Coolmojo.. -- but again no turns. Must resolve these things.
and then the snow kept falling, that afternoon and esp. night at Silver Creek were really great, tracks filled in during you next lift up, But skiing on the edges knowing the monsters lurked in the creeks there, and yeah I got bit-- I'll post this separately but thanks to crazy luck and helmets I can still move about unassisted
---By the way the bars were great after my brain injury, I kept on meeting people I knew from last year and the night before. Anytime you have a beer in West-by-God with a member of the Alta Snowboard Team, well that's just a good night
Next morning it was this
My group had had it, I went out for several runs and then we took the injured home
Now I'm listening to the creaking noises in my back -- it's like an old car -- wait a second is that a new sound or was it always like that
