Jumped in a suburban Friday after work with the guy that fit my boots and 4 other people I'd never met. 4.5 hours later we arrived at the gnarliest of gnar mountains called Cataloochee Ski Area.
Joeys Pancakes at 7:30 and got up the hill at about 8:30. They made snow all night Friday night so conditions were great all day saturday. You could see the debris at the base from the avy control they had done all morning.
best sunrise I've seen in 2013
made a few laps and caught up to SkiAtlanta and John. SkiAtlanta wasn't kidding about sleeping in his car. Treats were had on the lift
Then things got crazy. We stopped in for a beer snack and came back out to about 17" of straight blower pow under the lift.
Cornices were forming... we were waiting for this one to break off and cause at least a 60 yard slide.
The "Alley Cat Couloir" was causing mayhem all day. We made sure to do a few pole whacks before ever taking the mandatory drop into this run. Judging from the masses of people that form above it, you know it's for black diamond shredders only.
John and Skiatlanta had a little fun with it.

Great day Saturday. Got back out early Sunday. Extremely hard and icy in the morning. Found scubaskier up in the patrol shack.
After about 11:00am the sun came out in full force, softened everything up and conditions became great again. Called it a day around 2 as lines were building up and it was time to head back to Nashvegas.
Until next time, peace!
