After skiing Canaan and Timberline I drove down to Snowshoe because Lower Shay's was opening. The drive from Elkins to Snowshoe is pretty slow with many small towns and hardly any straight sections. The lift ticket was $79 and the crowds were light to moderate, especially for a rainy day, no lift lines longer than two minutes, most runs were uncrowded. Snow coverage and quality was excellent everywhere except upper ball hooter, which is probably the only reason it had moguls. If there is one thing, other than the lift ticket price, that I don't like about Snowshoe, it's that they normally groom everything, even Lower Shay's with that new winch cat. You would think as wide as Lower Shay's is, they could leave a little strip of moguls. It was nice to see they at least had two mogul runs, upper Ball Hooter and Knot Bumper which is where I spent most of my time. I haven't seen moguls at Snowshoe in two years. Lower Shay's was excellent, but groomed of course, so I spent most of my time on the front side in the moguls. I looked for some decent glades to ski but never found much. Unfortunately the terrain park was closed for rebuilding so I never got to check that out. [YT][/YT]

OMG ... if it were that bare/thin now...what is a week of thunderstoms, rain and warm temps gonna do??? Well...it will be good for the grass.

It was only thin on upper Ballhooter, lower Shays, and a little of Knot Bumper, the rest of the mountain had much better coverage and should be fine next week.

Coverage looked pretty much fine to me. Thanks for sharing!
