Well folks this TR will suffer in the shadows of nipple deep Utah powder, but I had to get it up before the timing became irrelevant.
Trigger pulled on Friday to head up to Beech after work, find lodging on the way, ski all day Saturday and drive back to Nashville afterwards (5 hour ride). Turns out, a friend of a friend was renting a chalet in gatlinburg for the weekend - hey why not? Took the 3 hour ride into the redneck tourist mecca of the world and posted up for the night.
After about 3 hours of sleep, we woke back up at 5AM and drove over to Beech (3 hours). Arrived to rockstar parking and what turned out to be an incredible day. ON to the pics!!
its not your eyes, this is what 5 am looks like
early bird gets the parking
nice grooming early
nice views early
White Lightening and Southern star were looking good
and so were we... i guess i need to buy some Phenoms - i mean amirite or amirite?
the crew for the day. guy on left fractured his collar bone by the end of the day - he's getting surgery tomorrow - wish him well
the park progression was a lot of fun - although the big kicker was just that- BIG
the little guys were enough for us
Met grizzlyenton in the beech tree for a beer. Little did we know the lines started to get long while waiting for a 45 minute batch of chicken tenders. This character didn't seem to mind. back in the 80's there was no such thing as a detachable quad.
i mean lines got REALLY LONG after lunch
We made as many runs as we could after lunch, and watched ski patrol snake the line making lap after lap whilst laughing at the peasants as they skiied by. I was glad to catch Beech on a good day, couldn't have asked for much better conditions, though i heard they did get better Sunday and Monday. Can't wait to get back.
Here's a little video from the park - soo steeeezy.
oh i almost forgot... speed pose!
