So I saw the storm a comin' and drove out at 5 PM Monday evening --my aim was to get to the Purple fiddle who were going to leave a room unlocked. Instead a pretty scary situation with the steering on my car developed and I got as far as Elkins. Sorting out getting it repaired and renting a car took a bite out of my wallet and my time on the slopes but I still got in four partial days and some really great runs/experiences

Day 1--- I finally got to Canaan Valley at about two o'clock, the storm had not done all that was projected. The Dark side runs were open but w/ a completely unmanageable crust on anything ungroomed so I just stuck to the basics and had a nice afternoon; no one ever looked at my ticket. Here is a pic from the lift of Bald Knob which I would end up skinning to the top of from the Whitegrass base

My best runs at CV were actually the next morning, the crust had sort of consolidated and the trees were good (but keep your tips up, lots was lurking) And the new ungroomed run they have opened that strings Meadows 3 (?) to Prosperity to the slope that was the tube run was lightly tracked and really spectacular --I loved those runs

On Wednesday after making those runs in the morning I had to haul *** back to Elkins and finish the BS w/ my car --I drove back and went straight to White Grass where I had a long and special afternoon. I already posted a short TR of some of that http://www.skinorthcarolina.com/message ... hp?t=15767 but let me fill it in. Whitegrass just holds snow better then it's neighbors I think and you have many hundreds of acres w/ trails serving trees all around them -- not really gladed but cleaned up through years of tireless effort. With 12-16 inches coverage I was certainly bouncing over a lot of wood and some rock but hey, what harm could they possibly do?

That night I stayed at the Purple fiddle and rolled out in the morning toward Snowshoe

Down at Snowshoe the next day, snow was still good there and I skiied in the trees by Knotbumper, enough space in there to still find fresh tracks

Even mid-afternoon there were no lines and people were already destroying there bases under Ballhooter

I stayed again at Shamrock, a deal and I really like/respect these owners

Time for night skiing

The Park there looks amazing, and I always love Silver Creek at night

They have opened a long new glade run between Bear Claw and the almost always closed run and lift beyond it, I missed it during the day so made a night time exploratory--this would really be a special run early on a week day

Next day it was raining fairly hard by mid morning, I skied until the lines started to build, made most of my runs in the chopped up thin stuff under the lift on Widowmaker, I really like that part. Sadly right when the rain was changing back to snow I had to go; hey but I was uninjured, my wife was still speaking to me, and my car could safely drive

Looking forward to being back at SS and skiing w/ everyone during the Summit

Nice! Sounds like the last time we skied CV. Hopefully we'll get decent WV conditions this week.

Are you just trying to show us some skin or touting your dual purpose Dynastar ski / bottleopener? Very nice TR though.
