Nice day at teh Shoe. Only 1" of new reported last night & of course most of it was groomed this morning. Still plenty of stashes to be found.

Widowmaker - tracked out in 30mins on a Thursday!

Choker looking nice - closed for snowmaking, but a few got the goods through the blasters:

Upper & Lower Shays were nice:

Lower Shays has a nice pitch, no moguls yet but they were encouraging formation today, only 1" on top of crust is not really good starting material though:

Cupp was nice:

View from room at Expedition Station, fairly nice room but jr studio is snug fit for 4. Also if it's something you'll need, wireless signal is weak but ethernet plug-in is available... might be good to pack the wireless router if you were counting on a strong wireless signal:

Check out Inn & Jr Studio deals on the web also. Pretty much staying in the room for free since walkup rack rate on the lifties is $80ish pp pd. 2 nights & 2 days lifties for 2 at $169pp. The Inn will save you $65pp. Of course we lost the savings for staying Friday night due to the 'holiday' weekend. But it's what the majority wanted to do & a little convenience is worth a few extra $$ some days.

Silver Creek was nice too. Parks have a few nice features & jump lines. Will try to get better pics tomorrow.

Really nice morning & spectacular afternoon/evening today. Laid some early tracks on Cupp & Shays for about 2 hours. Lower Shays was half groomed:

Ran over to Silver Creek a little early to hit the jump lines & Flying Eagle lift. Still corduroy at noon :D

Small jump line:

Larger jump line:

Park:

New Flying Eagle Glades, thin & closed today but good chance to open tomorrow:

Started puking after lunch:

Which made for some really nice afternoon/evening runs at Silver Creek:

Split Rocks hot tub is always good after a great day on the slopes:

Snowshoe delivered the goods & made for a great experience for our friend's first time off an NC mtn:

It's going to be tough to pack up & head down in the morning, but they were lining the streets for check-in this afternoon, so I expect tomorrow to be a madhouse here, as well as most places on the east coast. A few of the cross over trails had heavy traffic today but didn't really have to wait more than a few chairs all day.

Great pictures of their park features -- and it looks like your tracks were filling in as you skied late at Silver creek. Too bad you couldn't get into those glades but it's cool that Flying Eagle was open-- I haven't been there when it was open in years (which isn't to say I haven't skied it) it's one of the best and least known runs, more vert, I think than any frontside runs at Snowshoe, sometimes w/ a couple of big cat track rollers

Flying Eagle wasn't open either. Both were very thin, showing grass, rocks & stumps... not in my bag & the enforcers have seen enough rough spots this week. Should be open today with another inch or so of fresh. Bear Claw was open. Puking as we pack to leave. Lots of people here & still coming in.

Hey I'm glad to hear that your still on the enforcers, I guess that means they've worked for you.

they must have been fun tools for Shay's and Cupp

Enforcers have been great, good all mountain ski for me. Lots of fun on WT & great when the snow got pushed around. I did pull my Rossi Z5's out for the hard pack afternoon at Timberline earlier in the week.

Snowshoe this morning (Prez Saturday):

Hard to leave on a Powder Day, but I'm sure it was tracked fast. Might have been good for a few runs.

Shot of the observatory on the way down through Cass:

She got bigger while we were gone for 4 days!

Snowing pretty good at the inlaw's house & back in Raleigh, so maybe a few backyard turns in the future...
