Drive there was much easier than I expected. Elkins had 4" maybe and roads were clear until ~10 miles from bottom of Snowshoe. Still then they were well plowed and just a little covered. Here's driving up SS hill.
Clicked in at 915 at top of Widowmaker. Powder was unbelievable. It snowed ~2" last night but the wind filled things in nicely. Did a few laps under Widowmaker (mostly groomed except far right) then a couple in Sawmill Glades. The glades filled in much better than Sunday....no ice to be seen or heard.
Near top of SM Glades
Looking up
After the glades, I headed to runs off Ballhooter. After some laps on some of the groomers, went for Grabhammer lift line
Top
Lower
Hit Knotbumper couple times then headed to Western Territory
Trees to left of upper Shay's were filled in nicely
Cupp was groomed. Lower Shay's (right) was groomed, (left) was in earlier stages of soft bumps.
Grabbed lunch then did a couple runs under the Western Express lift (upper)
Headed back to front side and played some more before calling it a day at 3pm. I talked to several people who ski/rode yesterday....some said the snow was heavy, others said it was perfect like today. I tend to think the heavy comments were from those who are not comfortable in powder. Regardless, I couldn't believe conditions could get better than last Sunday, but today was another notch better.
