My first official TR of the '13-14 season... and only my second day skiing this year to be honest. A morning report of 5.5" somehow turned into 15-20", with even more on the east-facing slopes of Mirkwood. Here's a summary of my day in so many pictures (Jay in yellow, Mark in the Hawaiian jacket):

Heading back to Mirkwood for another lap:

Not a Go-Pro frame grab:

If you can, I'd recommend a weekend of skiing at Crested Butte and Monarch... totally worth it.

Great stuff KD, the mountains around Monarch are so beautiful, youre blue bird shots bring that out.

Was the skin track going up into Mirkwood from the side instead of doing the hike up off the Lift? looks more enjoyable

D- not sure where the skin track "from the side" was... we hiked right up the main track. I did see a few people skinning up, but they were going up the main shot too. It would have been a lot easier to skin it, but in reality it's not a horrible boot pack for what you get.

And you're right about Monarch being very scenic- it's a different aesthetic compared to Loveland, A-B, etc.
