Today was...AWESOME. I complained last week but Beech was on point today. All the lifts were open on time at 9am and the grooming was fantastic. It was some of the better corduroy I've seen in recent years there.
The start of the day was good. Comfortable temps and gray skies. On the first lift ride up, my jaw dropped at how much freakin snow there is on White Lightning. In general, the mountain has more snow on it than I've ever seen before. It's pretty ridiculous. Just look at the top of White.
The first couple of hours involved hot lapping White Lightning and finishing off a flask with carvebeast and yardsale.
Then, the snow came. It was dumping over the next several hours. I'd say it snowed about 3 inches while we were there based on the amount of snow on Dave's car when we left. It got way colder too and the top of the mountain was whiteout. However, the snow was coming down so quickly that there was a ton of fresh snow to throw around. Faceshots everywhere!
Tom bounced and Dave and I went to 5506 and had a beer and some food with some peeps from the board. We then made a few more runs and then had to leave because we were in a 2 wheel drive car and didn't know how sketch the roads were. They were pretty sketch. Here's what the parkway looked like coming down.
This guy was having a bad day.
All in all, it was a pretty great day. Sweet corduroy in the morning and a little bit of freshies in the afternoon. Hard to beat that. I'm sure Keri and Pink will be posting some pics too.
