Last year my youngest son won a few lifties at Aspen at one of our races. He had never been west and somebody had to take him. I volunteered. I had separated my shoulder in mid November and put surgery off until this trip was over. I didn't care what it meant to my shoulder, I was going to have this time with my 10 year old. We had never been anywhere with just the two of us and I took his brother to Crested Butte in 2013. He was more excited than I have ever seen for it just to be the two of us.
Here we are leaving Greenville at 530 am on Dec 27.
Had a long delay in ATL so we found the Crown Room.
We finally arrived.
This is from our first dinner after we arrived at Snowmass Village.
Our first day on the snow brought about a lot of firsts.
First time on a gondola.
First time seeing and skiing deep powder.
First time skiing trees
First time on very crowded slopes.
First time buying new skis out west. Little Gotamas are pretty cool.
First time eating lunch somewhere on the mountain.
He also enjoyed the hot tub outside with snow all around.
Our second night he met a little girl his age and her teenage brother. They had fun with the handi chair that night.
Here he is skiing at Snowmass
Your's Truly
The two of us at the top of Elk Camp
Here is Teller walking away from our last dinner at Big Hoss, which was his favorite place to eat there.
Had a great time with him and it was nice to be alone. I got to know more about who he really is. This is a trip I will always remember, and even if we go back it will never be the same as the first one.
Sorry it has taken so long to get this up but when I got home I had shoulder surgery and the staph infection I got in the OR really screwed up my winter. I am almost done with that but not yet.
I have video of his first time through powder but am not sure how to post.
