Cat Day 1 2015

Not a lot of pics and no video...my camera goggles aren't working right so I have to resort to my phone. If you dont know what Cat looks like by now anyways.....
Aiden and I left at about 430 am for a day full of Bojangles fueled fun and excitement.
The mountain started out a merciless barrage of icy death cookies and softened as it warmed up. It seemed like there was a temp inversion in effect as it was 26 in Dillard on the way up and 38 on tops of Cat. They werent making snow when we arrived in the parking lot a little before 8.
My boy did great and improved exponentially as the day wore on and the snow softened (skittles rewarded in proportion to number of linked turns helped). We were racing and he was hitting little jumps off things. He said he likes racing and that he thinks it makes him better. By the end of the day he'd really relaxed and was really just skiing around in such a way so as to hit all the little pits, dips, and kickers he could. So I'm a proud dad....especially so by the fact that he wigged out and threw a massive fit once I told him we were leaving (leave em wanting more right?) So he kicked ass and we spent the entirety of the afternoon on Lower OMG. I cant wait for the day when he's tall enough to not need my help getting on a lift
The only other 2 things worthy of note:
-My son and I got to witness a domestic dispute which was fun. Dude walks up to the bunny hill lift pulling his gf while he's carrying his own stuff. GF gets on lift, freaks out, tries to get off and yelling match ensues.
-One of the patrollers mentioned Cat is going to at least hold on til Wednesday.
-Kudos to Cat for opening and giving us a chance to ski. Everyone there was very helpful and friendly. Also, the rental gear at the shop in the valley is brand spanking new. There's a good chance if you're renting from them that your gear hasn't been used yet.
Pics
After this I skied in a tshirt
Easy way, rabbit hill and lower OMG were open
Thumbs up from A
You can almost see the temperature inversion
It was a really fun Day for November in the Southeast. Get it if you can....
