I tried to upload a trip report with a video, but the messageboard didn't like it much.
We went to visit my youngest son and his wife. Jesse is a student at RPI in Troy, NY. We made a day trip to Windham Ski Resort. NY boasts more ski areas than any other state...over 50!
Windham had about the same weather as Snowshoe did earlier in the week (see my trip report). What a difference one week makes.
Here are a few pictures from Windham.

At one time there was a video that showed how to download pics and videos. I have asked a couple of times to see if a new video or demo could be put on but have not had any success.

Looks like fun. I saw the mountain's stats and I'd love it if we had something that big within a decent drive of here.
As far as the vids go, the message board software is favorable if you upload your video to another site, then click the video box and drop the link into it.

If you go up to Troy during ski season again, consider checking out Belleayre or Hunter. Very different feel than Windham. Hunter is a steeper mountain, with a separate lift for black trails on the backside. Belleayre is more low key, with a good variety of terrain including tree skiing.
Gore is about an hour north of Albany. Much bigger than the ski areas in the Catskills.

I've heard a lot of good things about Whiteface, how does it compare to Hunter and Gore?

We almost went to Gore! Maybe we will hit that if we get a chance.

Whiteface is a tall mountain. Lots of vert if you go top to bottom, as in 2000 ft. Gore is actually quite big in terms of total acreage but it's split up into separate "pods" to can take a while to figure out where to spend some time before heading elsewhere. With good snow cover, Gore has trees. Whiteface has steeps and can have bump runs. Hunter is much smaller than either Whiteface or Gore. I could easily ski pretty much every run in a day, including a few of the greens that are in a separate area. Plus it's relatively close to NYC so can be very busy on weekends.
