Taking care of a dislocated shoulder and enjoying yet another pain pill buzz. Watching the news and then leaving for a shrimp and lobster dinner. Then, plan to see if the warning on this bottle: alcohol may intensify the effect really means anything. Why else would they put that sticker on the botttle??? :)

Aww, Creeg, I am disappointed in you! I blew out an MCL forcing surgery after a week of snow skiing in NE. I spent 6 months in therapy and 2 years off of snow skis whilst I rehabilitated the bad knee. I did all this with nothing more than 3 200 mg Ibuprofen tablets for pain. On top of that, I dislocated my shoulder in an inline skate incident and simply knocked that sucker back in place and went to the doctor the next day. It hurt like @#$% and the doctor decided that I was completely insane. But beyond that I am still a complete psychotic today. Although both body parts still give me fits periodically, I haven't slowed down at all.

Try to wean yourself off those pain pills if you can. They are not good for you and are EXTREMELY addictive. Sorry to sound like your mother, but I have been there, done that, have the t-shirt. I try to avoid them if at all possible. My doctor for my shoulder firmly believes that I am a masochist!!!

sk8ter, I have a torn rotator cuff, so just knocking 'that sucker back into place' is not that simple. You dislocated your shoulder once and it popped back into place - lucky you. My shoulder will dislocate several times a week. It pops in/out - it is called instability. Often it will not pop back into place and several doctors force it back into place and that is painful. I've had 2 surgeries. The next one is in two weeks. Until then, I am taking the pain pills.

Oww, how did you tear your rotator? I have a friend who had rotator cuff surgery last year, tore it barefooting. That is a lot different than a dislocated shoulder. Do you keep re-injurying it? He was back to barefooting in 6 months after his surgery, that is why I am asking.

The shoulder is dislocated (again) right now. The ongoing problem is a torn rotator cuff and shoulder instability (which is why it frequently dislocates). The injury was a fall at work - that never would have happened if a slacker employee was doing his job. Due to the chance of a re-injury of the shoulder, I am out of work completely until I have the surgery. I try not to be bitter and just hope for a successful outcome at this point.
