Took the camera out for a bit today...

Snow was really variable. Some spots was really hard packed and icy, some spots were soft. Overall it was a pretty fun day. Guns were off on Upper Shawnee so that was the best part of the run... lots of rollers to play on. Lower Shawnee on down was a whirlwind of snowmaking. Park crew put out a flat rail, flat box, and the black medium sized waterpipe rail around noon that was pretty fun.

There were a few dirty spots but overall coverage was pretty good.

Nice pics. I was there at 9. It was really rough early. Very choppy with some ice hidden just under the fresh. The lower half was really bad. On the plus side, there were some nice jumps. Pretty thin coverage in some spots. Seemed to be getting better by late morning when I left. Personally I think they should have waited until Sat to open. They needed more time to push snow around and do a better job at grooming. But I understand the need to open. Thankfully Beech offers a morning half day, so if conditions aren't great, you aren't out much money.

Kind of glad I'm waiting til Sunday to ride after seeing/reading this. I was surprised to see they opened today.

The cold front moving through overnight should allow for a ton of snow to be layed down tomorrow and tomorrow night.
