For as bad as the weather pattern has been, its been pretty convenient for me. Warm and rainy all week then a cold snap, freeze, and some snow for the weekend. Today was kind of like last weekend in terms of weather and conditions. Beech has done a commendable job of snowmaking given the weather. Shawnee again top to bottom with no bare spots or thin areas. 100% snowmaking on shawnee and again making mounds of snow on robbins and southern. Not sure what the approach is there...

Up top, there was good soft snow with some crunchy spots and an occasional icy spot. Mid mountain was a little sticky through the snowmaking areas. Freestyle and the quad loading area were nice and soft with no bare spots. Pretty solid.

Not much for the jib kids, just a weak air lip with no landing, and the same flat box. The approach to the box got sloppy as the day wore on. Watched a kid on blades slam hard on it later in the afternoon. Some decent rollers and a side hit or two up top, not as good as last week though.

The crowds were low, and quad wait time was about a minute or two when they had someone pairing groups to get 4 bodies on the chair. No one was doing that or checking lifties for most of the day though.

Enjoy some janky pics:

Jam, How did we miss you?

I thought the snow was great considering the last week. Nice packed powder without any junk churned up. All the holes on Crossover were completely filled in and there was only one tiny bare spot at the base of Freestyle that most of us would not have even gotten near. The wind blew some before lunch and the guns were on all day but visibility was pretty good most of the time. The gun crews came out and adjusted most of teh guns so that it was tolerable. Lapped most of the day with only a short wait a couple of times in the afternoon.

All in all, a fun day with the Skiwryter and Skirt family and met some new friends from Raleigh too.

Hard to get many picts due to the guns but here are a few.

Making whales at the base of Southern Star, it was fun to veer off over in the fresh stuff.

The boys being boys while waiting for the slow adults to arrive at the quad.

You can see the one bare spot near the bottom.

Looking pretty much like a Winter Wonderland near the end of the day.

It was blowing pretty good in the late morning but by after lunch it has eased off quite a bit.
