I’ve got a pretty sweet backpacking trip lined up for the end of June climbing Mt. Whitney via the mountaineering route so I’ve just started trying to get back in backpacking shape. I’m trying to go at least every other week so there may be a few cool trip reports.
This title may be misleading because the 3 “summits” were all in the piedmont and less than 3000 feet but I think they’re all pretty neat mountains to climb around on for the day. Last Satuday my Dad, Sister and I braved the 2 inches of rain in Charlotte and hiked around on Crowders Mtn. for most of the afternoon, sorry no pics too rainy to bring the camera out.
I was in Winston-Salem on Sunday so I got up Monday and drove up to Pilot Mtn., it’s a shame you can’t climb up the big pinnacle anymore but it was still a good day to be in the woods. I’ve just begun using a camera I’ve had for awhile and still learning a lot about it so bear with me.
They call this 3 Bears Gulley I think but I couldn’t find any of them
Next I headed East and not a bad curvy drive maybe 30 min. to Hanging rock, this is a pretty cool park I didn’t realize how large it is. I climbed to the top of hanging rock and had lunch great views.
Hanging Bluff maybe??
Under the Rock
I had no idea of the little waterfalls there, they’re pretty cool and a great way to wash the sweat off your face
I wish I had had more time this is a great park with tons of trails I’ll def. have to go back. Anyways enjoy more to come.

I've heard about Moore's wall but never been there, unfortunately I was by myself on Monday so didn't do any real climbing just some amatuer bouldering.

Yeah well next time im in town i'll have to let you know was pretty spur of the moment. I feel like a wuss i'm running in a 10k next weekend @ Murrell's inlet and have trouble running 6 miles. It's sad how fast you lose your endurance if you dont keep training.

Nice pictures -- spring time is ideal
When my sons were little we went to Hanging Rock thinking it would be an afternoon idyll
they took off on a trail and it was a long and eventful afternoon -- Hanging Rock is for real.
