Nice!
Not that I want to keep shooting everyone's hopes and dreams of southeast backcountry skiing down, but...the pitch of this trail would not be enough to keep you moving downhill. Especially when you hit thigh and waist deep drifts.
As was said, more recon will be done this summer/fall, and I will be more prepared next year to find the goods. I have kept my first set of skis for years in hopes of turning them into a 'rock ski set.'

I was back up in the mountains the weekend after this storm. I did not see snow in any of the areas of Linville Gorge. I really doubt that much of the snow stuck around for very long.

bumping this thread... potential for this weekend, maybe.. Are there balds up there that can be skied with the right amount of snow? Never been up there before.

I talked to one of the patrollers at Cat and he said that the bald you can see from the top of the mountain is pretty good, although short. You have to cross a lot of private land to get there, though. In the big storm earlier this season I thought about it, but the inbounds skiing was so good that it wasn't worth the effort.

The Balds on Roan Mountain are certainly skiable. The storm in Dec dumped 2ft up there, and that was certainly epic. I made it up to Carver's Gap (barely from the TN side) the Monday after the snow.
This place would better than anything I have seen on Roan Mtn:
