Thanks. I saw Roan mtn and had to post on it since I lived up there and literally crawled all over that mountain 12months out of the year.

Alright so, I am certain that Roan now has a 40"+ base up there since Leconte is over 40", after this next storm rolls in on Tuesday/Wednesday I think I might give Roan a shot. I was looking at Round Bald/Hump Mountain, and it looks like you could have a good run, any beta?

Yea hump mountain could be decent on the downwind side (east) just pick a line following the edge of the rhododendron bushes.
Also If you can go up to the roan high knob (highest point) area and start from there on that road and ski back down it has some decent pitch in a few places. Does not get plowed and is gated. It maybe 1.5-2miles i've sledded all the way down on plastic sled when I was a kid and you can get some speed on a few spots and I'd imagine skis would be much faster.
What you should really do if serious about it is get someone to fly ya over the mountain in small plane so you can see how it looks and pick out some lines. Could probably get someone out of JC to do a "scenic" flight over there for $100. + you could see how the snow cover is.

WATCHOUT though, looking up at Round Bald from hwy143 like the picure shows, there are fences that criss-cross the bald.
The winds I'm sure have been rough up there(possibly blowing some snow 'off' the balds) but I would bet money along the tree lines or near rhodo cluster the snow is 6ft deep.
Prepare for heinous boot packing...unless you have tele or touring setup.

Umm...yeah. So my warning about the fences on Round Bald was way off. Those fences are totally on the other side (left side, facing the bald from the road). The right side of the bald is MONEY. Skied 4 lines down it today. It was absolutely awesome.
