The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Snowflex is as good as advertised!!!!

This is the spot to post your trail and trip reports. Please notify [email protected] when you do so that we can feature the better ones on the front of the website.

From what I understand snowflex is different than the teflon whatever they had there. Maybe you're right though. I have never been on either.

Didn't Ober have some sort of bead thing that the beads would break off if you tried to stop? Think they still use that stuff on some of the unloading ramps.

Ober's was an Astroturfish carpet with small plastic BBs similar in size to what you use in an airsoft gun. Sprinkler heads kept the whole operation moist.

Friendly rope-tow advice: Take the handle a little early and put it behind the small of your back instead. This way you are using your legs to keep balanced and not your arms. Works for me but I partake in the darkside, and I don't know if this works better for skiers.

This method can also eat through some gloves.

All the snowboarders were doing that with it but they didn't recommend that for skiers. I just need to ditch the ski poles somehow so I can get a firmer grip on it with both my hands next time I go.

I think me and a buddy are gonna call out of work next saturday and make another trip up there for the grand opening. Wanna see the the pro riders etc and see if I can learn some more on this stuff. Let me know if you're gonna be there.

I’m wondering if the NC resorts could integrate the snoflex technology on their slopes to cover bare spots or to augment snow in high traffic areas... any thoughts?

Is there a particular reason why it would not work?
