The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Haven't decided yet, i'm pretty intimidated by the size of the skis at the moment... may wait and try to sell them and get something in the 180ish range.

I'm 6'1", 185 lbs., the skis are 190s. I'm not the most aggressive powder skier (in fact, I'm downright bad at it) so I'm wondering if this could be too much ski for me.

D-ski: I wouldn't worry about the tips at all. Probably a very slim chance for anything happening, and if it does delam a bit, $5 in epoxy will take care of it.

A core shot is probably defined as going all the way to the wood core... but that one is damn close. An entire chunk of the base has been taken right off. Like I said, an easy fix, but definitely something that should have been disclosed if there are no pictures.

KD -- just to be clear that chip in the white background is the top sheet gouge

along the base edge has been p-texed so I really don't know how deep but it was a hard knick

Oh, gotcha. In that case, I wouldn't worry about the condition of those skis one bit. The topsheet chips are normal wear, and the bases look OK. That's a deep scratch, but a little P-tex and a good wax job will fix it just fine.

Reassuring to know -- now I'll just get back to fondling and flexing my new boards!!

oh wait I have one more (you are a patient man KD, know that it is appreciated) -- stonegrinding-- how much help is it on a non-racing ski? The shop here only has a machine that goes to 120 which will only cover the middle third of this ski unless they have some kind of trick obviously they will edge tune the whole thing but ...

I have no idea about stone grinding.... but I wouldn't worry about that on a ski that's probably seen 20-30 days already. Just have them tune the edges, do some Ptex work, and you'll be good to go.

The Heli's have a mediumish flex, shouldn't be a problem for you unless you are in tight trees or moguls. Then you would probably want something shorter than 180 anyhow.
