I raced some old school grand prix motocross today at a track about 25 miles from my place. This place is a working farm/ranch, but they have a couple of races each year. It started out with vintage bikes, but now modern bikes are welcome too. There are no man made jumps, just corners, terraces, and monster straights. We carried the kids, the camper, met some friends, and had a good ole time.

Pics from the wife's D40.

The start area was down by the lake. This is about 1/3 of my class. There were 27 of us in +30.

I didn't get a good start either moto...I am on the outside here...check out part of the track in the background.

One of the downhills. Lots of elevation changes at this track.

Making a pass

Gotta lead the bike with your body.

Hopping off a terrace

Part of the course was the road across the damn. You could really stretch it out here. I was running my 450 in 5th gear and hitting the rev limiter. Probably 65 mph plus at the end right into a bumped out uphill....mega fun!

Tucking in to avoid the wind

Out of focus...but...BRAAAAP!

I wasn't on my game when it came to starts. I actually had a pretty good start in moto 1, but I had to shut off early to avoid disaster. In moto 2 a bobbled out of the gate. I tried to make it up, but I was taking so many rocks and dirt to the face I thought it was going to knock the lens out of my goggles. I finished 7th in moto1 from starting about 14th or so. Moto 2 I rode much better, and came from 26th to finish 6th. I rubbed wheels with 5th in the last corner, but just could not make the pass without carnage.

It was a good time.

Thanks....yep 4 stroke....Honda CRF450R. It's a beast, but fun to ride. You just have to respect it or it will put you on your head.
