Today they put down carpet late in the day when it was a problem. They were trying to shovel snow as well. Otherwise there were no problems with coverage on most of the mountain. A few thin spots late but never had to ski through mud or rocks. Very muddy at the base in general though. There was no problems with lines today. Pretty much lapped all day.
As for the scanners,I think they are just getting the kinks worked out. I've never been out west but I understand that many resorts out there use scanners. Input from someone who knows?
And every person that I saw who was employed there was very plesant today. A couple went out of their way to be helpful.

Glad to hear things held up today! Don't know what they are doing out west now, but I know last year at Snowshoe (7-8 days there) I never got on Ballhooter or Soaring Eagle without getting scanned

Most large resorts have scanners. Alta & many other Utah resorts have turnstile scanners. And Snowshoe uses hand helds. They never hold up the lines. I don't think they will be a problem at Sugar once they get the bugs out.

The RFID scanners - tied to the turnstiles are the ticket. You only need to get close to the reader with your pass - the gates open and you proceed. With the turnstiles - there is more than one at each lift - and no employtee interaction is needed.
