Not a bad day. Weren't open to the top which was kind of disappointing but it was a good day overall. No crowds to deal with.

Was there opening day, made it through 3 runs then called it a day when my son got stuck in an ice pond, today was much better. What a difference a day makes! Upper Shanehaw was looking pretty good, hopefully opening soon!

Our trip for the weekend was a great family trip. The girls were almost out of control when it started snowing about 15 miles outside of Boone.

However, when we got to the mountain you could barely see anything due to fog and snowblowing. Cold and icy skiing in survival mode. After only a couple of runs we were done.

Still we had great accomodations at the 4 Seasons and good food and football at the Brick Oven.

As Skiwryter said, what a difference a day makes. Bluebird day early on with a few clouds rolling in later. To bad it wasn't open to the top but the snow was still great. The girls snowboarded all day with one of Skiwryter's sons and we all had a fun time. The guns were on all day but for the most part were turned so it didn't affect vision. Thankfully all the crowds were elsewhere. No waiting beats free.

Ski Beech, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Looking up Robbins Run and Southern Star.

Upper Shawneehaw

Lower Shawneehaw

I'm finally getting used to the new skis.

i successfully poached 1/3rd of upper shawnee today before receiving a verbal lashing from skipatrol. haha totally worth the 3 turns of actual powder. i was told "now i know it looks good up there, but what you have to realize is it is completely UNGROOMED!" gasppp! better run over it with some machines and flatten down any potential natural features that could result in fun being had. i miss utah.

overall it was a good day with the kendog, grizzlyenton, and friends. highlights included the double ridge line we hit over and over and over with the kendog landing the best two hits of the day on the line with a shifty to tweaked stalefish back to back and my impromptu backside method 1 on a fun roller with a flat landing ( pics and vids will start happening in the next couple trips!) hopin to see some of you guys out there this season!

Nice reports -- I opted out when it seemed clear that the quad wouldn't open --but it looks like it would have been worth it to have gone

I hope they can keep building on the base this week

SkiPink I love the man made rainbow picture
