You refer to Punishers -- are you skiing on Scott Punishers (want to buy some P4's) ? Or are you referring to the punishment of having to ride a soul searing high speed?

I love the sound of the tree runs outside of your room; and again I'm sorry to have missed you on Sunday

thanks. btw, I thought about approaching that 'airfield' area. I thought I would ask about the route at the 'nordic' center since they have trails that go there, but alas, the 'nordic' center has not yet reported for duty - it is still a 'shooting clays' hut. Maintenance workers told me that they have not seen any activity down there. Well, I can see why you would not want to to do anything when there is all that snow around. ;)

When PMonkey and I hiked up there last season, we took the access road/trail and then made an abrupt righthand turn at what felt like the right spot, and bushwhacked through the trees to the open area.

Given the weather, I bet that area is maintaining a reasonable base of snow. Might be skiable right now, certainly after this weekend...

So how was it? This is the area I was examining. It looks like there could be a path from the top of silver creek to the top of the open area, or an access road from near mountain creek sports - that is the one you took ? The skiing looks like a couple hundred vertical feet of open field. To the left there is a nice looking utility cut with more vert and access to the top from 219 (not shown in image). The so called nordic center is down the maintenance road from mountain creek to the right of the image.
