Very true words. I worked at the South Pole 2000/2001. -100F wasn't rare. Clothing, headgear, and good gloves make all the difference.

The South Pole? Got pics??

I laughed my arse off when I saw that on the way to Beech on Sat. Too bad it was already gone when we left Beech around 5pm.

Had a great time hanging out with skipink family and friends in spite of the frigid weather Sat. At least there was reasonable visibility in the afternoon. By then any blowing snow was mostly from the guns on White Lightning.

The bonus was getting onto Oz when it opened up in the afternoon. Lots of powder on the side to play in. Looking forward to showing it to Marz Jr. in a few weeks. Not having wind on the ride up made a big difference, as did the cushions. Riding up on the cold metal seats of the front-side quad was not fun.

Very pretty.

No long lines for the quad. Not even any lines marked at 2pm.

A few shots of Oz.

The roads were pretty rough on the way up. To many crazies driving.

The sun finally decided to come out. View from the Oz Bridge.

Yeah, we went to beech fri. night and were heading back up the mountain around 1pm on sat. and could not make it up. Probably made it 3/4 of the way up but just could not get any traction. Ended up @ sugar that afternoon and it was horrible. Made two runs and left. It was nothing but ice w/ zero visibility from the snow guns they were blasting. Left there and went to Appalacian and to our surprise it wasn't too bad. a few icy spots but they weren't blowing and their seats didn't feel like I was riding an ice cube up the side of a mountain. That place is TINY but they def. have their stuff together there. First time we've had any trouble out of the Civic Si in the snow. I guess it really started coming down about an hr before we headed up.

the writing on the truck was funny. no one had written on it yet when we came thru. the wednesday prior to this mishap, a greyhound type chartered bus bottomed out on the same switchback curve. he cut the curve too sharp and the back end was stuck on the ground. traffic was backed up all the way up to fred's and down to fraziers, or whatever it's called now.
