The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard
The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.
We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

Berthoud was way steep. When they were open they would do van shuttles to bring you back to the area. If you can find an old trail map check out Hells Half Acre. HHA is among the steepest slopes i have ever skied. Such a great area.

are you using a randonee set-up? any thoughts about teleing?

I skied HHA a couple days before these pictures were taken, and its awesome(I didn't take my camera that day). HHA is pretty similar to Floral Park in terms of terrain, except HHA is a little bit more open with a couple of chutes and is ever-so-slightly steeper.
I use an AT setup: I have Rossignol S7s mounted with Marker Barons, along with Black Diamond skins (and all the appropriate avy gear). I've never considered tele... it just doesn't look that fun to me.

cool. be safe out there. I think the best backcountry I ever did ( and I did not do all that much) was off Monarch Pass. I only skied Berthoud when it still was an area. Again, nice pics!
