The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Today I went up to the mountain again! Two days in a row and both were equally gorgeous. Today I rode with Joey and Peter and being more experienced, they took me to the top of Whistler Mountain. The first run was an easy one as we had Kate with us, and she is still learning. Later on, she left for the village to get some business done. On the top of the mountain, there were blizzard conditions with whipping winds and icy snow stinging our faces. Peter informed me that to the right of the trail was a cliff... and that's bad.. and to the right it was a powder wall, and if we hit it, we'll cause a small avalanche on ourselves and get buried. So I worked my way down the middle of the trail.. but it was really slow going and half of it was uphill, so there was a lot of hiking. We actually went down a trail, got down about 100 yards, and found that it was closed. So we had to hike back up that too. When we got to the top, there was more hiking to the next chair lift where we picked up the next trail. It was a lot steeper than any green run I've ever been on and the visibility was really low. It was a rough run for me.. but I made it. As we got to the lift at the bottom, people were holding ski poles in the air. Apparently there are birds called Whiskey Jacks that will come and sit on the poles and even eat out of your hand. The second run was much better, as the clouds had lifted and the sun was beginning to shine. This time we did not have to hike at all. This run was epic. I was more familiar with the run and now I could even see the trail ahead of me. It was the best run so far. It was still a challenge for me, but I was much more confident. On the third run, the boys took me down off the edge of the trail for some back country riding. I hit powder for my first time, and it was incredible. The powder was up past my knees, but thanks to their brief instruction, I did fine in it. They told me to cut to the left and I'd end up on the trail. We would all meet at the lift. It was so much fun. When they caught up with me, they said that they had gotten in over their heads.. I was so happy I went left. They came up on a straight down cliff with tightly packed trees. They made it through, but it was rough. After that, it was time to head down the mountain. We met up with a bunch of the other interns and headed to bungee jumping. There were five people signed up for bungee jumping. It was insane, but very cool. I did not jump, but I watched. They all had a blast. Here are some pictures from the day:
