I agree Tom.. That's why I was bumbed about it's condition yesterday.. I came up to that section and saw 2 newbies who were about to reach the slick spot and mentioned it to them as I passed by.. I stopped below to watch them and it wasn't pretty. One ended up going off the trail all together..lol Once on the lift going back up I watch the guy sliding on his butt the whole rest of the way down Whistleing Dixie. It was pretty funny..

After a few thaw and freeze days all of those ungroomed slopes at the top will suck. I'd wait for another snowfall if you want to try The Bowl or Flame Out again. But hey, a groomed Powder Hill/Whistling Dixie combo is still one of the best runs in NC!!!
the bowl was closed shortly after i got there, flameout was open but was completely bare at the entry and i decided to spare my skis and wait for another day.
I have only skied the wolf twice but agree completely about the powder hill/ whistling dixie being one of the best parts of the mountain.
To me its a little funny they give the trail a new name half-way down.

Beech is the king of renaming a single slope halfway down just to claim a higher slope count. Upper and Lower Robbins Run, Upper and Lower Southern Star, Upper and Lower White Lightning. At least there's an elbow on PH/WD.
Of course the Breakaway side of Wolf is pretty shameless also. 1 slope with 4 names, Over Under, Upper Broadway, Lower Broadway and Drop In. Come on!!!

Going to hit the half day session today. Last time I went (two weeks ago) they said they had a terrain park open. I rode all over the mountain looking for it....I found one flat to down box on the side of breakaway.
So the next patroller I run into I ask, "Can I ask you a question?", She responded with a "No". I'm assuming, jokingly. So I say, "I've been all over the mountain looking for the terrain park that the ski report says is open, but I've only found one box on the side of breakaway....is there anything else?", to which she responded, "No, we're trying to open the breakaway side so we can put stuff over there."
So one box counts as a terrain park...awesome. Needless to say the following weekend I decided to go to App.
The report says Wolf's terrain park is now "fully open" (I never knew there were grades of open for the TP) so I suppose we'll see in a few hours.

I have notified SkiNC several times about inaccuracies in the WR snow report, specifically about the fact that the only "terrain park" at Wolf is a bunch of rusty crap laying off the side of Broadway not even set up.
I guess in an effort to keep the peace with the resort operators, all that gets reported in the SkiNC daily update is what Wolf puts on their website with no mention that this or that might not be correct as a warning. I understand fostering the relationships with resorts, but bad reporting hurts everybody involved. Gotta trust your slope reporters more!!!
I have also notified SkiNC that the number of slopes open is consistently inaccurate. It is so bad that yesterday and today it claimed Powder Hill was closed but Whistling Dixie was open. For those that know Wolf, you know this cannot be true. I guess you had to go down the lift line and start at halfway.
