The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

The powder was excellent, definately alot better than any of the other nc resorts I was at for the past 2 weeks.

It is one of the best conditions that they are having from recent memory! Lift lines were non-existent and lifties are nice, snow was coming down hard at times and older tracks were covered by the snow as there was not many people.

U guys need to get up there asap! (sorry if this sounds like a commercial but this is as close to flying out west):>)

have fun out there!

How long was the drive for you, and how were the roads?

6 hours door to door, driving out from Apex. :D

The roads were sketchy going up esp after marlington; but that's because of the snowing overnight. By the time we were coming back, the roads were cleared and salted.

6 hours isn't that bad. Last time we went it was through a ******* blizzard and we didn't even get to Lewisburg (GPS took us through Winston and then up I77) until after midnight. North of Marlington was a mess, roads were covered in snow, plus it was my 1st time seeing and driving on snow so I went slow. I think it turned into a 10 hour trip including the suspension problems in Durham.

Next time I'm going straight up 86, it's a much more direct route and shaves off almost 100 miles of driving.

EDIT: I can't say f r i g g i n?

standard route - 5:50 on the return when we drove last month.

I40 to Hillsborough

NC 86 to Danville

US 58 to Martinsville

US 220 to Roanoke, cheap gas in Daleville, Kroger shopping center on left

US 220 to Clifton Forge

I64 to White Sulfur Springs

92 north to Cass

66 west to snowshoe

the I77 route was not a terrible choice, you just had great weather.

^^ I lost you at 92 north to Cass. What's Cass? And I can't even find 66 unless you mean I-66.
