The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

1-22-10 went up to beech today and I got a reminder of why I only go there once a year. Dont be fooled by there website!!! I went up thinking they had 2 parks and all trails open. this was not the case! sure the park was open but there were closed signs in front of ALL the features! execpt 3... a poorly placed rainbow box with a huge ditch at the end from where everyone has fell and no staff has taken time to fix the landing! it was also on a downward slope not flat like a rainbow hit should be! what I mean is when you start to go up the box you are already at the top then its a long ride down I hit it 3 times (didnt fall) but it wasnt even fun at all, then there was a tiny picnic table and a flatbox but the lips on both were so eat up they were at least a half foot away. It took me about 45 mins. to a hour to fix both. and those also had the same HUGE ditch at the end!!! here's my point... skibeech.com says this... "The park will have a fulltime day and night staff focused on maintaining the features to ensure participant safety." that is a outright lie!! also this is not a good place for begginers to learn park! another thing there website says! im sure there are some beech goers out there that will argue this till the death but i've lived in NC most of my life and have been snowboarding for the past 10 years. each year making at least one trip up to beech and every year its always something... RAIN, FOG, HIGH WINDS, or all three or worse!!! oh yeah I almost forgot to mention that none of the slopes where groomed either!!! I love snowboarding and I hate to sound like a grump but I just thought the people would like to know the truth! thats all.

dang grumpy smurf who pi$$ed in your cereal this morning. sorry you had such a bad time. i've been really impressed w/ the park this year. those guys have been busting their butts to keep it up. last week the guys kept filling in the holes, but after a couple of jumps the divots returned. nothing they can do when the snow is this soft. i'm new to the park thing, so the way i looked @ it, if i can land it in a "huge ditch" as you say, then i'm learning more of the skill.

No one cares you were fooled by "there" website.

No one cares that you hit a box 3 times and didn't fall. (Get used to jibbing cause that's about all the box you're gonna see, bud.)

Most of all no one cares that nothing was groomed. Believe it or not a lot of people would rather have it that way. Especially here.

Follow Mellow's advice and do a tad of research before heading out next time.

you may want to call them ahead of time or check here for recent reports to verify what features will be out...if its that important its always good to verify; whether its weather, conditions, or terrain park features...

Playin' golf, skiing, and a little fishing thrown in. Currently working at Eldora. Ashley and I are trying to start a fam so that's been taking up a lot of time too if you know what I mean.

The 3rd Rail Jam is today which is a huge boarding event. I'm sure the park staff was working all night to get it in shape for today's event. Sorry you had a bad experience Snowman .. these things do happen occasionally. Nice to hear from Teh Gnar :)
