For Pres. Day weekend, I skied with Marz Jr. and SkiBud-C on Thu night, Fri (snow day, teacher work day) and Sat, Feb. 11-13. The girls had a snow make up day on Mon so had to come home on Sun. Fri was groomed powder and typical empty weekday, perhaps a few extra locals who had a snow day. Sat was a typical Mnut holiday, meaning not crowded at all until lunch time. The crowd was gone by 4:30. Lots of folks who checked in that morning were getting 4-hr lift tickets. Never a line on top for Lift 6. Even in the busy time mid-afternoon, probably didn't have waits of more than 10 min for the bottom lifts. Slightly fewer people than usual for a holiday weekend, perhaps because of the cold and people worried about the roads from DC/Baltimore/NJ/NYC.

Got to do more black run skiing than expected because SkiBud-C started skiing off Lift 6 for the first time. She and Marz Jr. tried it out Thu night by themselves. Had a ball. Stayed on top pretty much all day on Sat. We took a long lunch break at the condo. I set up a semi-private lesson for the girls in the afternoon. That way it could be on ParaDice for sure. Meant I got up top quickly too by riding with them for the start of the lesson. ;)

ParaDice bumps

Who made these tracks under the bottom of Lift 6?

One answer: Mnut snowboard team

We watched the team. A few wipe outs, but most made it okay. The coach had to talk the last one into it. When she went, she did it better than any of the boys. :>)

Plenty of open space on Southern Comfort at 10:30am, no line for Lift 5

ParaDice and DJ at 3pm

Goats still hanging around near the patrol hut up top

Happy girls

So did patrol give up on keeping people from skiing the liftline?

I was told if I did it, I would be banned for the season.

There weren't any tracks up above where the team was jumping off. So I think that was still off limits. But the local kids were going through the trees towards the bottom the previous weekend too. So I guess that's considered okay.

The girls took off their skis to go feed the goats. One patroller didn't like them getting that close. The goats came over to the girls and thought it was a fine idea. Apparently it's a Mnut staff member, not a patroller, who is leaving the hay bales for the goats.

Thanks. Pretty easy to have a great time at Mnut with the snow up there this winter. I'm hoping things will still be good mid-March after I get back from Tahoe. Then I can take the girls one more time for some spring skiing. They were skiing fast enough to meet me at the lift if I took ParaDice at a pretty decent pace and they went down DJ. May be ready to spend the day at WTG Highlands next season. :)

the Nutt looks carve friendly... I hope to try it out someday. I will be driving right past it the weekend of the SnowShoe Summit... maybe I need to do a pit stop! :)
