2010 SkiNC Beech Summit TR/Pictures Thread
Ski patrol waved me onto the next to last chair, and gave me a pat on the back, so I have to say thanks for that. That was ski on lift! But otherwise, i did not like the lines. A lot of it is just mental, seeing all those people ahead of you.
To answer the question above, I tried the TNK and did not like it. In two runs I just could not get balanced. I actually went from Scott Punishers, to K2 710 Comp, to 4FRNT TNK, back to Punishers. Love the punishers. I did not see the CRJ, they were either out with someone else or just not there.
David - sorry you could not make it, but thanks much for the K2 demos, that was fun.

Great weather, great conditions, but not so great a facility. Lift lines stupid long and constantly being stopped and two of there lifts where not even open. Bar food was not so good and they did not even have the bar stocked that well.

Lift #6 gave it up for good on Valentines day. They unfortunately can't get the parts needed to get it fixed this season. It's old!
Lift #2 has been retired.
Call me crazy, but I don't consider a 20 minute lift line in North Carolina on a Saturday afternoon stupid long. At Sugar, you wait at least that long and then you have a lift ride that takes 3 times longer. The #5 quad lift at Beech is the only high speed lift in North Carolina. It stops a lot because people wipe out a lot getting off. And yes, the uphill unload is a real malfunction junction. The food, well name me another NC resort that you get excited about the lunch food. Let's remember this ain't Deer Valley.
So from a crazy man's perspective, here's my take:
Conditions - happening
Lift lines - same thing every Saturday
People complaining about the lift lines - same thing every Saturday
Price - hard to beat
That guy at the quad with the Dixie cap making up the groups of 4 - Really on top of it
The lift ops on the Oz chair - The only thing they were on top of was the seat of the chair they sat in all day!
Kids snow school- Awesome (according to my son)
Parking- Great at 8:15 AM
Terrain Park - I wouldn't know
Beech Staff- Other than the a fore mentioned Oz run lift ops- Happening
Beech Mountain Police - Still wondering if Bird is the word? (ask any member with 2,000 or more posts to explain)
The 65 people who are in the SkiNC photo- happening
The other 200 who got cheap lift tickets - not very happening!!!
Auction- Great time, Great cause (yes I left early and was punished appropriately. see earlier post)
SkiNC staff - happening
TeleDave - Was quoted as saying,"If Obama can send Biden in his place to the Olympics, I can send Blacky in my place to the Summit".
Food - Where'd you think you were, Beaver Creek?
So to sum up my crazy ramblings, 5 years ago when a handful of message board members decided it might be fun to actually meet and make some turns, that little get together has turned into this. To me, it's more about seeing all you folks and sharing a few stories. If you thought the lift lines were too long, you were in line next to the wrong person. Relax and start up a conversation. Every year I meet a few more board members in line or on a lift. That's what this event is really about.
And finally, major props to Mike & all the staff at Appnet! If it weren't for Mike, I would have never met any of you folks. So, quit reading my dissertation and SIGN UP FOR THE SKISE SNOWSHOE SUMMIT!!!!!!! Just look for the guy that won't shut up in the red white and black Spyder outfit. Let's make some turns.

I, I saY I had a great time. 12 to 15 runs in bounds, 1 out. Awesome day. awesome conditions. Grooming was great. Snow was everywhere. So was SKINC.
It was Saturday skiing for sure. Lit ops guy at quad had it under control. I think I waited 20 min max 1 or 2 times. First day with the kids this year, and skied withthem most of the day. My kids have now met all the other old timers and think they all act like me. No doubt, Birds of a feather...............
Jasen was def the entertainment this year.
