1.1.12: Happy New Year's! I was in bed before midnight on NYE. Oh well whatever. My sister-in-law had to be to work way early so I decided to go with her so I could rip the groomers first thing in the AM. I was pretty hung over on the way up and thought and had to lay down in the lodge before eating breakfast. There was again no new snow and everything was skied out and packed powder. HOWEVER, the skiing was far far better than most great SE days and better than what 90% of the country has right now. Packed powder is not that bad! I was on the chair at 8:55 AM and ripped down six 1,600 vertical foot black groomers in under an hour to start the day.

From NYE.

Its a hard-knock life for these trees.

In the afternoon I skied with a guy who was the boyfriend of my sister-in-law's friend. I did not get any pics, but man he could slay it!

1.2.12. WE NEED SOME SNOW!!!!!!

I didn't take any pictures today. The skiing was nothing special. It REALLY needs to snow to make me happy. I watched Nebraska get beat by South Carolina and hit Schweitzer at 1:00. For some ho-hum skiing that was still pretty fun. I did meet up with a TGR mag: twbarret who goes to Washington State and is on the ski team. He was a good guy who was fun to ski with. Tomorrow I may finally hit some side country with him and his crew. As I am typing this it is snowing in town with 1-2 inches forecast for the mountain. I hope they are wrong and they get 7!

Best snow I've seen this season, or even heard about.

1.3.12 an inch of new snow.

Well I'm finally getting around to posting up my last day of skiing at Schweitzer. There was an inch of new snow and the mountain was abandoned. I decided not to hit up the guys I had skied with the last few days because I kind of wanted to take it easier on my knee and those guys slay pretty hard. I'm still incredibly pleased with how my knee held up just 6 months after ACL surgery and I think I'll be pretty much 100% when I go to Vail in April. I really liked Schweitzer and after skiing there for 8 days I think I probably skied 89 out of their 92 trails and just didn't get around to the last three.

Onto the pics:

This is at the top of the Lakeview triple. The inch of new snow that had wind loaded skied quite nice.

Schweitzer has great trees.

These last two pics are taken at the base. Notice how dead it is at 11:35 AM. That was quite nice!

I skied until 3:00 and called it a day. The next day was travel back to Dirtyham. Boo! It has not snowed since I left.

THE END!

I worked out of Spokane for 6 years (2000-2006) and skied Schweitzer 5-8 days per season. Loved Chair 6 (Snow Ghost) which is Cold Riblet but great terrain. Have not been back since 2009 - I miss it! - Lakeside Chutes
