So I went to Snowshoe this past weekend and it was flat out EPIC!!! We drove up on Thursday. We left East TN at noon and it had just began spitting flurries. That was constant until the WV state line when it just started puking. 219 was terrible and covered in snow and it took almost 2 hours to go from Milington to the Inn.

Driving up the mountain on Friday morning we found an Icehouse truck in the ditch and right behind it a jackknifed semi almost blocking the road...

Then just passed it some lady got her Avalanche stuck and a fire truck had to pull her out. All told we sat for 45 mins and we were the lucky last car before they shut down the road for 4 hours to get the semi out.

Friday was snowing all day and quite cold but amazing! Had lots of fresh snow especially in the trees and along the edge of the slopes. Funny story. I was riding at Silver Creek because most of the main basin was closed cause of high winds. Riding down from the blacks to the lodge I was on the far slope right of the trail riding through the untouched. As I was riding I assume I hit a cornice or something because the trail collapsed out from under me. My sister was just behind me and she said that I was going and looking like I was having a ton of fun and then suddenly I just dropped straight down and disappeared! These next two pictures are looking back up from where I fell off. It was about a 15 foot drop.

Saturday was the most amazing snow I've ever been in. Very thick and glorious. Heres a few pictures.

Here are some videos.

Yup, it was definitely nice up there. Good running into you at the PM lift. Glad you got shots of the pow. I couldn't bring myself to pull my dslr out while it was snowing. I hit up Shay's after I saw you. It was sweet like you said. I don't know why they had the western territory groomed on Thursday though. Lots of people were very annoyed including me. But they made up for it after Thursday for sure.

What a great TR -- avy danger and cornices -- the first times for the SE just keep coming in.

BTW, no wonder they were running the shuttle to the base

Great TR and Great pics.

I was headed up the mountian friday morning and got to the beer truck just after the semi jack-knifed. No one had got there yet to help ( it was go for what you know getting around them). Snow conditions were the best I have ever skied in. Knee deep powder is awsome. Wish I could have got some pics but my camera was dead. My group skied the blacks at Silver Creek friday and one of them went in to hole up to his chest. Some of those lines on Widow Maker, under the lift could be mine I skied there Saturday morning. After we skied cup run and shays at the rope drop.

Thanks for posting the pics those were pretty nice shots.

The 26th was the day I left. I still can't believe I drove through that blizzard! I did not even have a 4x4 but I just drove really slow. Wish I could have stayed for the powder but would not have mattered since my legs were shot after 4 straight days of all day skiing
