I've been on the fence about buying a gold card for the season, and i was itching to get in my first day. Realizing that Sugar charges $31 for a Friday night session, I decided to call them up and ask if I could buy the card and then ski that evening. The girls in the admin office were cool and told me it only took 10 minutes, but to make it there by 5. I rolled into the parking lot at 4:40 got fixed up and drove down to the Hearthstone Tavern to grab a beer while they groomed. I arrived just in time to get rockstar parking and grab one of the first chairs to hit some corduroy.

The conditions tonight were really good. I was surprised at how even and complete the coverage was. It was icy in a few notable spots, but far less than i expected. There were absolutely no lines or crowding on the slopes all night long, so I made quick laps of Northridge>Switchback for a few hours. At some point I discovered a 'powder' stash developing on the part of Upper Flying Mile where the 3/4 unload drops you off. Hit that for a while and called it a night at 9:45. The guns were on all night which kept the camera in the bag for the most part.

I shot 50% (2/4) from the lift into the trash can with my mini wine bottles. No complaints at all. Can't wait to hit Beech tomorrow on opening day.
