I've got a pair of Wizards that I need to set the bindings on. Really one of the best skis ever made.

I'd go with the Billy Goats. They're more playful and lively than the Bibby Pros and they can definitely charge through the crud. My friend (who's in the pics in the TR I posted) skis Bibby Pros and personally I wouldn't like them. ON3P skis are better made from what I've seen and they're lighter as well. I've skied a few different pairs of Moments (Bibbys, Belafontes, Rubys) and I haven't been impressed.

Are you looking for something to use mainly in nc, or are you heading west? You might want to go for something like a jeronimo or s3 if you will mainly be using them in nc

Yesterday was a pretty sick day, I went on the longest tour I've yet been on. We went out the white pine Gate and booted to the snowbird boundary ridge, its the 20 minute booter. Then from there we booted to the top of this, West twin of the american fork twins. The booter was easy barring a few sketchy places where the ridge was covered in solid glare ice. It definitely was a no trip/stumble area as the slope below was a steep boulder field with no snow, only ice.
We stopped just below the summit because the snow disappeared.
We skied the nw face of the west twin and traversed west deeper into the drainage.
The snow on the nw face was a few inches of creamy windbuff on top of bulletproof ice, it was much better down below. Just don't turn with your edges whatever you do
The view was awful. We skied from the North ridge of Lake Peak below the summit. Lake pk is the slightly lower summit in the foreground on the left side of the pic.
Feeferwhorn with lake pk in the foreground.
West twin
White baldy- this has become a high priority tour at this point
Lake Peak revisited. Our descent was the ridge to the right of the summit
See what I mean by steep wasatch skinner? This thing was rough. we booted from the last switchback, the slope was too steep to get my skis to kickturn
The ridge was a great place to kick back for a few mins and relax. After skinning and hiking for hours and not really skiing anything it was great to know that only the down was left. It somehow wasn't windy at all on the ridge, making for even better safety and chill conditions. Shady acres, where we skied the day before is in the background.
W. Baldy (L) and Lake pk (R). We hiked up about 10 mins to where we dropped
Broads fork twins and Dromedary
Glad to be out of that
we skied down by the random trees in the middle of the slope below the ridge. The turning was great, the snow is pretty consolidated but all powder. Surface hoar is growing on the snow making for loud powder skiing
And still a few thousand vert of pow trees before the road
we saw this slide path the day before and knew it would be good to ski. We were right.
After that we skied progressively tighter trees until we skied down the white pine trail to the parking lot.

Sick. Looks like both boot crampons + ski crampons might be in order as you keep increasing the touring level of difficulty...

Heres a better pic of the hypodermic needle and Obelisk in the foreground. The needle is a huge tour and gets into some prime avy terrain so it will wait a bit. Other high interest areas are Box Elder peak, Obelisk, Y couloir, Argenta slide path, Superior, and god's lawnmower. There is so much terrain to get into its limitless.
Today I pretty much took a day off. I was thinking of going back to white pine but decided to ski Alta when I heard the East Castle opened. I got up to it to see the whole thing had slid. There was an area in the middle that had not slid and was holding great snow, but about 70% of the snow in the castle had slid. I didn't take the sidestep up the whole way, but I got a good mostly untracked run. No pics unfortunately I didnt bring the camera. On the way down there was a porcupine in the middle of the slope waddling to get to the trees, it was pretty neat to see one up close in daylight.
