The last TR of the season.
Mt. Sopris from my friend's place between Carbondale and Glenwood Spgs. I was strongly considering going up it, but my CO contacts weren't available to ski for a few days so I passed this time around.
The west end of the Roaring fork valley.
the day after I went up Highlands Jerry, myself, and some his friends from work went fishing at this lake in Marble. It was a pretty stellar setting. I'm used to fishing ponds in GA. The pond is no deeper than 5' or so, but we still caught a few rainbow's. The lake is surrounded 360 degrees with mtns.
And then I got back on the road at about 1:00
I passed Arrowhead which is a small area next to vail and Beaver Creek.
I stopped on Vail pass at the rest area to stretch the legs. Still tons of snow up there. It snowed on and off from Vail to Loveland Pass.
Abasin
This was tempting, but I was solo and know nothing about the CO snowpack. It looked pretty thin and windloaded/scoured in areas.
The fresh crowns and slides on the OB east wall/SFB area wasn't encouraging either
I saw the sunset over the rockies for the last time for a while. Coming down out of the mtns into Denver was hard to do. It was definitely of time reflection and good memories looking back on the season; it was even a little emotional. I'm happy that the last view I saw of the rockies was a pretty magnificent sunset.
And the sun sets on the most epic season I could've hoped for. I turned 21. I made a lot of great friends and connections in SLC and LCC. I skied 112 days and improved drastically in all areas of my skiing. I got through the season with nothing more serious than a few badly jammed thumbs and a few scrapes (EC knows what I'm talking about) and some annoying shinbang. I have jobs offered from the Alta Lodge, Snowpine, and GMD next winter. I have it all documented in pics and this tr thread, and the satisfaction of knowing I won't ever look back and regret not doing this. It was great meeting those of you that I did; I think it was EC, Marzski, Pagamony, JeffryC, and Caderader. Here's to next season. I hope to see more of you guys in UT next year. Maybe the western summit will find its way back to UT.

definitely. I was hoping to be able to get some pow turns with you this year KD, but i totally understand there were higher priorities. If I have some $ this summer I would like to get a decent used dlsr to post better pics, more action shots, and start learning the ins and outs of photography.
SR - I'm pretty sure I'm heading to Utah next season. I'll most likely be with a group of about 6 or 7. All of varying abilities, but no one below a "blues and blacks" level. After skiing with them most of the day I usually head up to the bowls and glades on my own for a little while, but I always stay inbounds...
Would you recommend Alta? I know most of your season consisted of backcountry, but i'm sure you know the mountain well. Or would a "big resort" type place be better for us, like Tahoe?
We will probably be out for a max of 5-6 days skiing. Thanks for the input. You seriously have me considering quitting my job for a winter to do what you've done.
