The End of an Era...We are Shutting Down the Messageboard

The messageboard is now in read-only mode and no new posts or topics can be created. We will leave the messageboard up for historical purposes, but you will not be able to make new posts or comment on existing ones.

We have started a Discord server and hope that you all will join us on there. Technology has changed over the years and maintaining the messageboard has become somewhat of a pain in the butt and Discord offers many features for users, the main one being a very polished mobile app.

We really hope you all will join us on Discord and think you will like the platform. Use the invite link below to join.

Cader you're gonna waving it in my face too once you graduate and move out there I'll be finishing up school in Athens, GA.

The winter of 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 are like little appetizers for what to expect for the rest of my life, well as far as skiing goes :D

You and me both homie, I really can't wait. I've already firmly made up my mind that unless I can find and Envi Sci job at a ski resort that I'm working that first winter at a resort (most likely Alta) You'll have to come out and visit me which will feel totally backwards haha

One of the worst snow years in a LONG time at Alta. Yesterday i hiked up emma ridge in hiking boots which I never imagined myself doing in late December. Partially it was hiking through steep muddy shale, some rocky areas and boot to knee deep snow. The N facing Days looked ok and worth a skin up for. Snow was sugary and rotten pretty much everywhere

Flagstaff across from the alta lodge and where I hiked to

Bony as $hit at alta. About 20% of the terrain you see in the pic is open.

I dug quick pit on the way down about 9300' on a pretty low angle test slope. Snow was about 28" deep and wouldn't move on Extended column test

SE Colorado is getting nailed, but that doesn't help the resorts much. GFS looks favorable for Denver, but less for the resorts. Hopefully the storm will track north instead of south like the models predict.

We've been skunked in December too. Only a really wet November kept us from having an equally crappy start to the season, but things are starting to get thin up there. Need more snow.

The guy on snowshoes was the fastest. We went up to cardiff and traversed the backside and stayed on the ridge towards superior. We dropped in lookers left of the Hellgate cliffs before Little superior.

Two friends from the snowpine

Is this pic from Alta? I thought snowboarding wasn't allowed at Alta.

Go easy on me, I don't know much about skiing Utah.
